HBC v1.0.5 freezes. Like forever. But only for some users. Fixed that, and some other minor hiccups. Launch HBC to update it. Or grab fresh installer. BootMii and DVDX unchanged.
And please:
- Read our updated FAQs first. For the HackMii installer and The Homebrew Channel, see here. For BootMii, see here. Better read those twice.
- We have a bug tracker. If you think you found a bug, be so kind and open an item here.
As always: Please link to this post instead of mirroring the binary, thanks.
Enjoy.

“You’re basically on your own, for the sake of your Wii: get rid of the failpack.”

That will be fun. π

Thanks for the update. Has the ability to switch from 16:9 to 4:3 mode in the hbc been added?

Aw, I was hoping for an added option to use the Grid view as the default view (and the 16:9 and 4:3 toggle).

Is it me or is the font messed up? It looks a little rough…

Thank you, this version works fine with 4.1 System Menu. I don’t know if homebrew browser’s hungups these days are due to it, but this version seems to be more stable. Thank you.
By the way, do you know where can I find solid informations about Korean->US Wii’s? Do you know if there are someone working on a fix that prevents System Menu updates of bricking it?

Would like to see savable default options for view and which device is displayed. 1.0.7?

I would also like to see a saving option for configuration. Just a small file on sd/usb to tell what the settings are set too. Because I have to change to USB everytime π
Is the USB support 1.1 or 2.0 because it is quite slow…
13 dhewg // Oct 10, 2009 at 2:56 am
Option saving is coming on future version. Our tracker supports “feature requests” too π See http://bugs.hackmii.com/index.php?do=details&task_id=217
And of course we’re using USB 1.1, since that’s what IOS supports. And no, we’re not going to add support for nasty IOS USB2.0 hacks. The right thing to do ™ is to skip IOS for USB altogether and to add a USB 2.0 stack on PPC side via direct hardware access. So far nobody cared to work on that, most likely because warez monkeys have to realise that on ARM side for their precious ISOs :\

it works better, but i still have it freezing when loading an app 1 out of 4 times.

@dhewg: Would using IOS202 which comes with MPlayer-CE be okay? AFAIK it’s not used for warez loaders.

Just thought I would mention that I actually got a code dump twice when installing bootmii/boot2 (unfortunately I didn’t write any of the register or stack data down because I was freaking out about if my Wii was bricked or not). Thankfully, as far as I can tell, nothing bad happened either time. The first time, it happened at the end of installing bootmii/boot2, and the second, right at the beginning of trying to install it again. I think the problem was, I installed it over an old version, but the uninstall option went away, so I figured it actually uninstalled instead of installed, so I hit install again, and it crashed at the end, then, when I booted it up again and hit install again it code dumped at the beginning. I fixed it by uninstalling, restarting, and installing again.

Sorry to bother you guys, but I found a particular bug.
To make the story short:
I have an HD Enclosure I used it with some homebrew, but it had a bug. I had to start HBC plug it out, reload the HBC, plug it in, start Geexbox, and go to RETURN, so it could get working.
But after the update, it was improved!(I think) now I think I don’t need to unplug-replug it, but when I go to Geexbox and try to RETURN, it gives me a Black Screen, and I have to turn the wii off (red light) making my procedure now done, unuseful.
Now I can’t use it anymore. Before the 1.0.5 and 1.0.6 I could use, so I don’t understand.
I’m asking if you could do something, or tell me something about it.
My enclosure is an Satellite AX-223

@madfilipe:
it isnt a bug that you cant return to hbc after launching geexbox.since 1.0.5 the hbc uses a different channel ID thats why returning to hbc with an old geexbox version won’t work, use the newest version (http://www.wii-homebrew.com/wii-homebrew/geexbox-v0-1-alpha8) and your problem should be solved.

Funny thing is that, when HBC gave me my auto update screen I hit yes and HBC froze at 42%. π
Tried again and managed to get it installed second time. Thanks for fix, I was getting really random freezes.

Just a suggestion, but for the next version of the HBC, could you make the system go into full standby when you hold the power button on the wiimote? What I mean is, currently if you use the wiimote to turn off your wii (with wiiconect24 turned on) the system is still sending a signal to the tv, although it is blank, it’s problematic when you use a RF modulator for your tv.

@umby24: That sounds like we are not properly shutting down the video hardware, which would be a bug — please open a ticket at http://bugs.hackmii.com. Thanks!
